September 2025

Description / Translation

Welcome to September, a special month in our parish calendar as we dedicate this time to celebrating our unique identity and heritage as Anglicans within the ACK (Anglican Church of Kenya). Our theme is inspired by the words of St. Paul in Colossians:

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:6-7)

This verse beautifully captures the essence of our journey. We received Christ through the grace of God, often within the context of our Anglican tradition—its liturgy, sacraments, and community. This month, we are called to continue in that faith, not as a static inheritance, but as a living, dynamic relationship with our Lord.

To be “rooted and built up in him” is to find our firm foundation in Christ alone. Our Anglican identity is not the root itself, but the rich soil that supports and nurtures that root. It is a tradition that values:

Scripture: The foundational authority of the Word of God.
Reason: The God-given gift of intellect to engage with our faith.
Tradition The wisdom and practices passed down through the centuries of the universal Church.
Sacraments: The outward and visible signs of God’s inward and spiritual grace, especially in Holy Communion and Baptism.
Community: The belief that we are called to live out our faith together in love and service.

This September, we invite you to join us in exploring these pillars through sermons, study groups, and fellowship. Let us remember the faith we “were taught” and allow it to “strengthen” us for the work God has called us to do in the world. As we deepen our understanding, our response can only be one of gratitude, “overflowing with thankfulness”** for the grace we have received.

Let us celebrate the gift of our Anglican faith, not as an end in itself, but as a pathway to drawing closer to Christ, being built up in Him, and serving our community in His name.

Join us this month as we explore, celebrate, and deepen our roots in Christ together.
