Early Beginnings

1984

The Founding

  • January: Church starts with 13 members led by Late Rowland Kariuki & Late Nancy Njeri Mburu. Worship at Githurai Ting’ang’a Nursery School.
  • April: First baptisms (Francis, David, Dominic, Beatrice).
  • September 2: First weddings (Peter & Emily, Nathaniel & Peninah).
1985

Church Plot & Construction Begins

  • January: Lang’ata Development Company allocates current plot.
  • October 26: Digging of foundation begins with Building Committee.

    • Rev. Simon Maina - Member
    • Mr. James Nyaga - Member
    • Mr. Samuel Thanji - Member

    • Mr. Solomon Kiuna (Sub Chief) - Member
  • November 24: Plot consecrated by Archbishop Manasses Kuria; foundation stone laid.
1986

First Worship in New Church

August 10: Congregation moves to unfinished church (no roof yet).

1987

Roofing Completed

May: Mr. latibhai patel through the late counselor Charles Maina Wanjuguna donated iron sheets for the roof. The roofing work was then done immediately.

1992

Church Expansion

Extension construction begins to accommodate growing congregation.

During this period, the church has expanded its evangelism work and hence started many congregations. These congregations are: -

  • 500+ members across 5 Sunday services.
  • Cell groups, clusters, and departments organize fellowship.
  • St. Hellens Academy.
  • Future Goal: Acquire plot for Shalom Church.
