Introduction

In a world obsessed with instant results and visible proof, God calls us to a higher standard—walking by faith. The Apostle Paul’s words to the Corinthian church remind us that faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. This August, we embrace the theme “Faith Forward”, learning from the struggles of Corinth, the boldness of Gamaliel, and the pitfalls of relying only on what we see.

1. What Is Faith?

Faith is “the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). Unlike the Corinthian church, which wavered in doubt and division, true faith:

• – Is Eternal: It outlasts circumstances (2 Corinthians 4:18).
• – Requires Prayer: Unlike the  sons of Sceva (Acts 19:13-16), who tried to misuse faith without relationship, genuine faith is nurtured in prayer.
• – Transcends Sight: Human wisdom (like judging a wife only by looks) is limited—God’s plan is revealed through faith.

2. The Blessing of Giving in Faith

Many battle with questions like: “Is tithe 10% of my gross or net income?” But faith-driven giving isn’t about percentages—it’s about trusting God as Provider (Malachi 3:10). The Corinthians were urged to give cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7), not grudgingly.

3. How to Conceive Faith

To move Faith Forward, we must:

– Anchor in God’s Promises (like Gamaliel in Acts 5:38-39, who trusted God’s sovereignty).
– Pray Boldly—not with empty words, but with reliance on the Spirit.
– Look Beyond Sight—the temporary (wealth, status, appearances) fades; faith lasts.

Closing Challenge “Faith is not a passive wish—it’s an active walk. This August, let’s step forward, not by what we see, but by who we know: Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Will you trust Him with your finances, relationships, and future?”
