Sermon Summary by Rev. John Victor Mado
Scripture: Genesis 11:1-12 (The Tower of Babel)
Occasion: Trinity Sunday (Anglican Communion)
June Theme: “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Introduction

On this Trinity Sunday, we reflect on the divine mystery of God as Three-in-One—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—a perfect model of unity, humility, and cooperation. Rev. John Victor Mado drew parallels between the Trinity’s harmonious relationship and the biblical call for humility and teamwork, using the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11) as a cautionary tale.

1. The Danger of Pride in Teamwork (Genesis 11:1-4)

The people of Babel sought to build a tower to “make a name for themselves,” prioritizing self-glorification over God’s will. Their unity was rooted in pride, not humility. Rev. Mado emphasized that true teamwork must be God-centered, not self-centered. Like the Trinity—where each Person submits to the others—we must work together in humility, seeking God’s glory above our own.

2. God’s Design for Humble Collaboration

The confusion of languages at Babel (Genesis 11:7-9) was not just punishment but a redirection. God desires teamwork that aligns with His purposes. Rev. Mado highlighted Pentecost (Acts 2) as the reversal of Babel—where the Holy Spirit empowered diverse people to unite in worship, not ambition. On Trinity Sunday, we celebrate this divine unity, calling us to work together in love and humility.

3. Lessons from the Trinity

  • The Trinity exemplifies perfect teamwork:
  • The Father sends the Son (John 3:16).
  • The Son submits to the Father (Philippians 2:5-8).
  • The Spirit glorifies Christ (John 16:14).

Rev. Mado urged the congregation to emulate this mutual submission in families, churches, and communities, ensuring Christ remains the cornerstone of all collaboration (Ephesians 4:15-16).

Conclusion: Teamwork That Honors God

The message closed with a call to reject the “Babel spirit” of pride and embrace the “Pentecost model” of Spirit-led unity. True teamwork thrives when we:

  • Serve Humbly(like Christ).
  • Submit to One Another(like the Trinity).
  • Seek God’s Glory** (not our own).

As we celebrate the Trinity, may we embody their love, humility, and cooperation—making God’s dream work through us.

Key Quote:

“The Trinity shows us that teamwork is divine. When we humble ourselves, God unites us. When we exalt ourselves, He scatters us. Choose humility, and watch God build through you.”* —Rev. John Victor Mado.
